France Allied with American Colonies

When Benjamin Franklin signed the Treaty if Amity in France, they recognized the U.S. as an independent nation. This allowed trade between France and the U.S.  He also signed the Treaty of Alliance, the second agreement made allies of U.S. and France against Great Britain in the war. The French backed the US, helping them win the war and independence of Great Britain. The Treaty then required France and the U.S. to work together on peace agreements.
