This was taken from the
trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange just after it crashed on October
29, 1929. The market collapsed, causing a record 16 million shares to be
traded. $30 billion, which is even a lot of money today, was lost. The crash was said to have caused The Great Depression in 1930. The Republicans ran the Government at the time. They chose to do nothing, hoping the market will work itself out. They were wrong.
